As of September 2022, the UF LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Scholarship has contributed $5,000.00+ in support of LGBTQ+ students and their allies at UF.
The University of Florida Association of LGBTQ+ Alumni is an affiliate of the University of Florida Alumni Association (UFAA) and is dedicated to supporting and connecting UF’s alumni and students, who may identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and beyond (LGBTQ+), and their allies. As proud members of The Gator Nation, we are committed to service and excellence while promoting inclusivity, diversity and belonging by creating a sense of community for all alumni, current and future students, faculty, staff and friends of Gators everywhere.
We will be the driving force to connect and strengthen membership of LGBTQ+ alumni worldwide to the greater UF community through service, charity, networking and social events.
We seek to advance current and future Gators, who support and enhance the LGBTQ+ community and its ideals, by developing and administering scholarship, mentoring and other supportive programs.
As ambassadors to the university, we will embody the spirit of our alma mater and represent the orange and blue with honor, PRIDE, dignity, and compassion while bolstering the university’s brand and supporting its initiatives.
In accordance with the mission and vision of the UF LGBTQ+ Alumni Association and in order to reduce the cost of attendance for those who identify as LGBTQ+ or as an Ally to the LGBTQ+ UF population we have establish the UF LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Scholarship. This scholarship is a one-time, non-recurring (automatically) scholarship and the amount of the scholarship varies as budget necessitates. However, recipients and non-recipients alike can re-apply for the scholarship each time an application cycle is open. There are no specific restrictions on how the money is utilized as long as it is utilized to support attendance at the University of Florida.
Once recipients are confirmed, the funds will be transferred to Student Financial Affairs and applied to the student’s account just as any other scholarship, grant, or student loan would be. After the scholarship’s application to the account, if the student is due a refund check, Student Financial Affairs will facilitate that process as with any other student financial aid process.
